Raise the minimum wage for tipped employees to half the regular minimum wage.

Created by R.B. on January 29, 2014

According to Obama's address last night, the federal minimum wage may rise to over ten dollars an hour very soon. But what about people who work for tips? The logic seems to indicate that if people make more money per hour, they will tip more, but I spent enough time in the food service industry to know that this is not the case. Many states are still paying servers and other tipped employees an hourly wage of only $2.13 an hour. For those who are not familiar with taxed tips, this often results in a voided paycheck. I believe that the standard tipped wage should be equal to half of the standard minimum wage.
