Raise the national minimum wage by $2.75 so that the working class may have a living wage

Much of the working class cannot live off of the minimum wage, which currently averages out at $7.25 per hour. Considering the costs of housing, power and water, food, transportation, and any other additional costs, this is simply not adequate. Assuming that the person in question were to work an 8 hour day in a 5 day work week- without vacations or sick days- they would only be making about $15,080 a year. By raising the minimum wage throughout the country by $2.75, making the national average $10, the average person- again, with no vacations or sick days- would be making $20,800. This is an additional $5,720 to the current average a year. Give the working class a better chance at a living wage.
