Raise the pay for service industry workers

Created by R.W. on February 12, 2013

Minimum wage for restaurant servers has remained stagnant for over 20 years $2.13 an hour is hardly enough to function on. Most of the time a server gets a zero dollar pay check because taxes eat up their pay. Most servers can't afford insurance and are forced to live on tips alone which vary from week to week. Servers can't afford to take off work for sick days. They get no paid vacation time. No stock options or retirement plan. 2/3 of restaurant workers are below the poverty line. Minimum wage has increased across the board a few times over the past 20 years.
