Raise the price of bullets to at least $500, so that school shootings and other other gun-related tragedies do not occur

2012 has been plagued with mass murders through the use of guns--many involving school shootings--but because of the overbearing presence of National Rifle Association, only a few politicians have gotten the courage to propose laws on gun control. The NRA's biggest argument on the issue is the 2nd amendment, the right to bear arms, but that doesn't mean ordinary people should have access to high-powered rifles and magazines. In order to appease the NRA but still reform our ways, I suggest raising the price of bullets. If this was done people might have guns, but a pack of bullets would be so expensive that a regular person would refrain from buying them, making the gun useless. This would also decrease the number innocent bystanders being killed because a shooter would not waste a bullet.
