Raise State Legislators Incomes

State Legislators write the Fabric and Constitution of our country every day in a much more real way than the document which purports to be "the law of the land," yet most of them, in every state, are paid below the poverty level. Public university chancellors and professors are well paid. The low pay of State Legislators frequently does not make them "closer to the people," but instead means only the richest can afford to serve, while the best and brightest from law and business schools seek their fortunes elsewhere. We petition Obama to earmark approximately $2,000,000,000 Two Billion Dollars to pay the State Legislators $175,000 per year with a 5% raise per year until they cap out at $225,000 in their 6th year of service. This will be a competitive with similar highly skilled jobs.
