Raise taxes on alcohol ONE cent to fund Resource Officers in schools. Protect our children from violence in schools!

Created by C.M. on January 23, 2013

Taxes are seldom raised on the alcohol industry; there was a period of 40 years when taxes were never raised. Each time a tax was proposed for a good cause (such as healthcare during President Clinton's term), there is so much lobbying, bribery and general uproar that even the President backs down. The drug alcohol kills 100,000 people every year. (Ketcham & Asbury: Beyond the Influence, 2000)
If Big Alcohol would stop advertising like Big Tobacco was forced to do, they would have a large budget to do good works. So much alcohol is sold in the U.S. and around the world that a ONE cent tax could create millions or billions of dollars. They could even afford to fund Resource Officers in schools to protect our children from violence. The NRA isn't going to do that, and the schools cannot.
