Raise the U.S.Federal Sentencing Guidelines for cocaine to match the sentences for crack or lower the crack penalty.

Created by T.P. on January 22, 2013

This petition was created for Americans to ask the Federal Government to correct a wrong. Currently there is a 18:1 disparity between crack and cocaine. This is unjustified since cocaine is the parent agent used to make crack, and without the cocaine you just have baking soda which is not illegal. The current guidelines have no deterrent effect on them as most just sell cocaine and then it is converted to crack by the purchaser. Under the current guidelines that big cocaine dealer is manipulating the system by selling cocaine knowing it can become crack. If the goal is to punish dealers so they will not sell drugs then we should be aggressive on the actual parent agent involved. As we know cocaine can be used in numerous ways for abuse. There is no crack without the cocaine.
