Rally congress to pass HR 324

Created by D.T. on February 29, 2012

HR 324 would amend title 10 USC would grant DoD civilian police officers the authority to make arrests. Many federal police agencies, for example US Capitol Police and Park Police have arrest authority. This classification comes with salary, retirement benefits and powers of arrest. DoD officers are asked to take the same risk as other federal officers and are asked to do so without the benefits listed above. DoD officers often identify crimes in progress such as DUI and warrants and must release them because of their lack of authority and civilian agencies inability to respond. Further, DoD officers are forced to tie up local agencies and duplicate efforts. Two agencies are required to handle one incident. This waist time and taxpayer dollars.
