Random Mandatory Drug Tests for Welfare Recipients

Created by C.M. on February 24, 2014

With over 12,800,000 Americans on welfare, this petition calls for random drug tests on those receiving welfare to ensure that the federally received money goes to the intended purpose of assisting a family in need rather than a habit. Although those on welfare may be not be on drugs, it is necessary to know where the tax money is going. There should be a zero-tolerance policy for illegal drug use in families — especially those families who struggle to make ends meet and need welfare assistance to provide for their children. This is not an accusation of everybody those on welfare being on drugs, but rather a protection of kids under recipients. Welfare only lasts for a certain length of time until employment is needed, so a mandatory drug test should be seen as preparation for a real job.
