The Distinguished Service Medal, awarded for extraordinary achievement to operators of drone aircraft, should not be ranked higher than the Bronze Star, which is awarded for acts of heroism, acts of merit, or meritorious service in a combat zone. Though it may be appropriate to acknowledge the contribution of drone aircraft operations through a formal military medal, the heroic actions of these honorable service members does not surpass, nor equal, that of those who face death through their duty.
