Ratify the Convention on the Rights of the Child

Through the years, concerned organizations and peoples of the world have advocated a basic set of rights for children, addressing issues like hunger, abuse and neglect. This resulted in the first effective attempt to promote childrens rights called the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1923, adopted by the League of Nations. This was accepted by the United Nations when formed in the 1940s, updated in 1959 and replaced with a more extensive UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989. This Convention has been ratified by all but two nations - Somalia and the United States. We would like our country - the United States of America to finally approve this convention, as it seems like a basic ideal that speaks to our spirit.
