Ratify The International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights

The ICESCR is part of what is known as what is known as the International Bill of Human Rights. It is a treaty that was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1966 and ratified by 160 countries, but not the United States. This treaty was built on the global recognition of basic human rights as expressed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). The UDHR is one of the cornerstone documents of the United Nations. The United States enjoys a special status in the formation and participation in the United Nations, an is often a vociferous defender of human rights on the world stage. It is an embarrassment and a shame that the United States has not ratified this treaty on Human Rights. I call on Congress to vote on and ratify this immediately.
