Ratify the United Nations Convention on the Right of the Child (which we helped draft and ONLY signed in 1995)

Created by S.K. on March 02, 2013

The goal of this treaty is to protect children and keep them safe from the atrocities facing many children in all countries around the world. Along with Somalia and the new country of South Sudan, we are the only other country that has yet to ratify this treaty.
Many fears about the ratification of this treaty have no legitimate basis. For example, some fear that this treaty will override the Constitution and pit the rights of the child against those of the parents. Neither of these fears are true as the Supreme Court ruled that no international treaty is able to override the Constitution (Reid v. Covert 1957), and the treaty actually protects BOTH the rights of children and the rights of parents.
There is no legitimate reason to not ratify this treaty. Please sign to help all children.
