We need the United States Federal Government to conduct annual audits of state and local governments to ensure school safety reviews for annual emergency preparedness planning.
This petition is a U.S. Federal Government recommendation regarding school preparedness for terrorism. Schools are at risk of foreign and domestic attacks, as we tragically saw this week in Connecticut. It is not enough for schools to just have a preparedness plan - state and local governments should be held accountable to make sure schools are reviewed annually and are required to conduct emergency action plan exercises.
