The Nation Institute for Drug Abuse states this about cannabis on it's website "Scientists have confirmed that the cannabis plant contains active ingredients with therapeutic potential for relieving pain, controlling nausea, stimulating appetite, and decreasing ocular pressure."
Yet marijuana is still classified as a Schedule I controlled substance with "no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States." Not taking into consideration the thousands of doctors who would put their reputation on the line to say that it has great use in medical treatment.
It's misleading for federal law, and a federal research institute to contradict each other. It's been thoroughly been made clear that marijuana does have medical value, low potential or abuse, and no place in Schedule I.
