The Fairness Doctrine essentially made the media report both sides to a story. The media today is a powerful force that with its bias causes more damage than good. For instance "Pit-bulls" are reported by the media to be aggressive monsters. In reality they are kind loyal dogs like any other breed. Another example is the report of the most recent tragedy at Sandy Hook. The reports changed everyday, but claims that an AR-15 was used and is now the driving force behind Dianne Feinstein's Assault Weapons bill. It is now reported it was never used, and Bushmaster was unfairly singled out by saying it was a bushmaster .223. Although it was the brand of the rifle it was actually an AR-15 and naming the company was unnecessary.
