In the 2013 fiscal year, the United States government took a total of about $50 billioin dollars from the Department of Defense. These budget cuts have already led to suspension of Tuition Assistance (which will defer people from wanting to join the military), less flying hours for our pilots and training for our troops. Not only our troops, but programs such as SFAT which help teach other countries how to have a successful military (such as Afghanistan) will cease within a few months. With countries such as North Korea and China in unstable condidions, we cannot afford to be any less prepared than we already are. This petition asks that the U.S. Congress re-enstate the $50 billion to the Department of Defense and exclude this branch from recieving budget cuts in future years.
