In the wake of the tragedy on 12/14/2012, there has been a cry for further gun control. However, let us first start by evaluating the policies we currently have.
Throughout the country the best of intentions have led people to promote safety and create gun free zones. In these zones, moral acting people are not permitted to carry a firearm, whether they have a permit or not. Sadly as these heinous acts mount, the disturbing number of these shootings occurring in gun free zones is mounting.
We need to re-evaluate these zones and see if they are having the unintended consequence of giving the aggressors in these situations an area to carry out their attack with no immediate danger, as opposed to deterring them.
