Re-evaluate the FMLA and Mandate Paid Parental Leave for All US Employees

Created by E.N. on April 18, 2015

In light of the recently proposed legislation entitled, The Federal Employees Paid Parental Leave Act, H.R. 616, we urge Congress to reevaluate the Family Medical Leave Act for all US citizens. We ask that you examine its inadequacies and make revisions which will add a greater number of eligible workers to the mandate. We request that Congress do so in an effort to boost economic prosperity, promote gender equality, challenge traditional gender norms, and strengthen the potential for women’s advancement in the workplace. We also recognize that by ignoring this request and permitting the continuance of the current status quo, Congress is sanctioning sexual discrimination in the workplace and allowing employers to be in direct violation of Title VII of Civil Rights Act of 1964.
