Adult sex offenders are not able to work/live near schools, but juvenile sex offenders aren’t held to the same rules. Schools are not able to deny an in-school education to juvenile sex offenders. Everyone has the right to an education; however, everyone also has the right to feel safe in school. Juvenile sex offenders should not be allowed on school property. Other options for an in-school education include homeschooling and online classrooms. Students who worry about their safety in school don’t focus on learning. To retain a safe environment, I ask that you give schools the right to refuse juvenile offenders an in-school education, and instead offer alternative options. This is not an attack on rights; it is an attempt to allow the juvenile population safety in a learning environment.
