We call for legislation that, rather than reduce the availability of different types of firearms, reduces the number of incompetent and untrained owners.
This bill would include the following:
- Standardized I.Q. Tests: Citizens with an I.Q. lower than 115 would be unable to obtain a gun permit.
- Enforced Training & Classified Permits: Before obtaining a permit, the obtainee must successfully complete XX-hours of training with the firearm class. Example - If someone had a licence for a typical handgun, this would not allow them to purchase an AR-15.
- Psychological Screenings: An estimated 26.2 percent of Americans (18+) suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year. Anyone deemed possibly harmful to themselves or others would be unable to gain a gun permit.
