When the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) was created in 1969, it was designed to limit the deductions that the wealthiest Americans could use to reduce their taxes down to nearly nothing. Unlike the regular tax system, it wasn't indexed for inflation and now the true job-creators--the middle-class who spend the majority of the incomes on daycares, groceries, manufactured goods, housing and related services--are being affected by the tax. Join me in asking the Federal Government to revisit this tax and revise it to ensure it is returned to producing its originally intended purpose.
