For far to long Police Departments around the country have been slipping away from "protect and serve" and towards a more military posture expressed by Eric Holder after the Ferguson Officers shootings that "Officers have a RIGHT to go home". Citizens want their officers to go home safe, but their JOB is to make sure CITIZENS get home safe.
This line "Officers have a right to go home at night" is used as a shield by police officers. The police are interpreting it as if they have more of a RIGHT to go home then the citizen and the Officer will make that choice every time.
This leads to citizens who are afraid of the very people that are PAID to "Protect and Serve".them!
