Re-legalize Cannabis by amending Section 802, Item 16 (the definition of Marijuana), in the Controlled Substances Act.

Created by J.E. on September 23, 2011

We, the undersigned, demand this simple definition of marijuana which actually shows Respect for our Constitution:

16. The term 'marijuana' means all parts of the smoke produced by the combustion of the plant Cannabis sativa L.

The current federal definition of marijuana is an over-reaching 104 word tautology.

This simple definition is easily understood by children, legal immigrants, responsible adult citizens, and local law enforcement. It is more Just than that definition which was dealt to us 41 years ago. It will reduce the legal and physical harm caused by that pejorative statutory mislabeling of cannabis. It does not thwart the plainly stated meaning of the 9th and 10th Amendments. It does embrace the ideas expressed by our nation's Founders in the Preamble to our Constitution.
