In 1978 the Food and Drug Administration established the "Compassionate Investigational New Drug Program as a result of Randall v. U.S. thus allowing patients who were considered seriously ill to participate in the program.
This established a "medical necessity" by which the Federal Government acknowledeged that cannabis IS a viable option for seriously ill patients.
The program was discontinued (no longer allowing new patient registration) by President George H. W. Bush due to political pressure and NOT BASED ON CLINICAL RESEARCH.
Anecdotal evidence clearly shows that cannabis DOES help some patients and as a result we should reopen the program for others.
