I know this is not a forum to collect votes and win. But one immediate and highly impactful result of this site is to scan the signatures box to see how many people agree with an issue.
Unfortunately, when a time limit is set or a petition has been answered, it's closed to further signatures.
I think that for extremely important issues like the recent "Immediately address the issue of gun control through the introduction of legislation in Congress." petition, posted on Dec 14, the petition should remain open indefinitely so that a TRUE gauge of support for the issue can be recorded.
Let's make a clear and unequivocal point about how this country truly feels about gun control and get 200 million signatures on that petition.
