Re-patch the Alternative minimum tax for 2012. Without a patch nearly 100 million americans will be affected.

Created by C.B. on December 27, 2012

Every year congress passes a patch for the Alternative minimum tax because it has never been adjusted for inflation since it was created. For 2012 there has been no patch applied yet.
If not patch is applied every american making over $37,000 or couple making over $45,000 will be affected by the AMT and have to claim it on their taxes. For most this will mean that they will be owing on their taxes and not getting a refund. This will affect over 100 million tax returns this year and cause the IRS to delay the accepting of tax returns for several months.
For a married couple making $90,000 they may get a small refund with a new patch but owe over $2,000 if no patch is put in place. This will hurt the middle class severally.
