After his State of the Union President Obama uttered the words LGBT for the first time ever in a SOTU. It's time to put those words to action and urge both sides of the aisle to support basic human rights and act with his executive authority should they fail to do so.
"As Americans, we respect human dignity... It's why we speak out... It's why we continue to reject offensive stereotypes... Why we... condemn the persecution of... people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender. We do these things not only because they're right, but because they make us safer."
Never before has the stage been set for LGBT equality and full enforcement of a Human Rights Act. This is an important thing not just for LGBT individuals but for anyone condemned solely for who they are.
It's time to act.
