To encourage literacy throughout the country, this petition suggest that the president or a notable member of his cabinet should address the nation once a week to read to them.
Despite the best efforts of our school systems, many of the young people in this country have limited exposure to literature and reading in their home life. By reading to the country our nations leaders will be able to promote good literacy habits by example, and meet a need that cannot be met by every household individually.
