The Supreme Court has ordered that criminal suspects be read their Miranda Rights. Reading of Miranda Rights is standard practice in this country because we believe that every citizen, regardless of the accusations against him or her, deserves a fair legal process.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, one of the suspects in the Boston marathon bombings, was not read his Miranda rights. Officials cited the "public safety exception", though there is no evidence that public safety is at risk by making Tsarnaev aware of his legal protections.
We ask that the administration read Tsarnaev his Miranda Rights, as is required under current law.
