Readdress the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009.

The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (ACES), or the Waxman-Markey Bill, would have established a national emissions trading plan. This trading plan would have greatly reduced carbon emissions, especially in industrial settings, and it also would have curbed heat-trapping gases. The bill was struck down by the Senate, but there is evidence that this bill would have greatly lowered emissions, therefore reducing the impact that the United States has on the environment and global climate change. We have already missed the deadline on the Kyoto Protocol; if we let this opportunity pass us by, we will not only continue to pollute our world, but also greatly diminish the amount of species on this planet, melt glaciers, and cause more trouble for the human race than necessary.
