Realize that the positive effects of legalizing, taxing, and regulating marijuana far outweigh any negative effects.

Created by N.Y. on January 13, 2013

With over 300 million people in America, imagine only 20 percent of them smoke marijuana. That leaves us with at least 60 million people who smoke marijuana regardless of state or federal law. If those 60 million people were to buy only 10 dollars worth of marijuana, and pay 70 cents tax on that 10 dollars per day. On tax alone, America would pull in 42 million dollars a day. Now of course these numbers are hypothetical, albeit low, and there would be expenses. However, you would be taking that money from the "kingpins' gangs and other more extreme offenders. Countless jobs would be created in the cultivation and distribution of marijuana and the states can stop spending so much money on incarcerating marijuana offenders. And maybe, just maybe. Everyone would just calm down a little bit.
