Reallocate defense funds to improving social programs and scientific research.

Created by J.C. on September 23, 2011

In recent years the United States has ramped up defense spending to ridiculous levels. There is no reason why one nation should account for almost half of global arms spending, unless we are planning on going to war with every other country in the world. At the same time unemployment has risen, people are losing their homes, education is falling behind other industrialized nations, and scientific research has all but been forgotten. Our money would be better spent developing sustainable energy alternatives(such as wind, solar, and safer forms of nuclear), creating more jobs, helping the sick and poor in our country, and improving our education system.
