Reallocate profit made by the US Department of Education to a trust fund for student loan debt forgiveness.

Created by B.C. on September 01, 2014

Student loan debt has eclipsed $1.2T. Those debts significantly lower the quality of life for borrowers.

The US Dept of Education borrows money from the federal reserve to finance subsidized student loans at interest rates under 1%. Nevertheless, the interest rates charged to students are upwards of 8%. Those interest rates enable the US DOE to have yearly profits in excess of $40B.

Sign this petition so that the US DOE will allocate its profits made from unethical interest rates placed on student loans to be put into a trust fund to alleviate the principle balances of debt accrued by students and graduates. Essentially, the money the DOE makes should be paid back into our pockets so that we can be freed from the oppression of debt.
