Reallocate the United States Defense Budget.

Created by D.N. on June 02, 2013

The United States defense budget was over $700 billion in 2012. While this accounted for 40% of the GPD, it was paid for by US tax dollars. This petition urges the US Congress to reallocate necessary funds to build a better America. We simply cannot lead the world when we only spend $62 billion on Education (2.5% of GPD) and even less on Scientific Research (2% of GDP). The United States currently spends as much on defense as we did during the peak of the Cold War. We are no longer in the Cold War, and no outside threats remain as prevalent. Invest in our future so that we have something worth protecting. Science and research of tomorrow's students paves the way for a brighter tomorrow, a brighter future, and a brighter America.
