Many thousands of Americans don't own cell phones. Reasons include geographical factors, concern for health hazards and economic factors.
However, as of July 30, 2016, any SS customer who wants to access his/her "my Social Security Account", must enter username, password and a security code will be texted to ONLY A REGISTERED CELL PHONE on the account.
The result of this requirement is that anyone who has no cell phone service will not be able to access their "my Social Security" information on-line.
There's not doubt that this rule was passed with good intentions, but the result of this rule will be that 1000s of senior Americans will not be able to access their accounts online. This rule must be modified to enable ALL Senior SS recipients to access their online information.
