Reassert the 2nd Amendment

Created by M.M. on November 12, 2012

In the Second Amendment it says, “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed”. The federal government has made efforts to violate upon these rights by putting limitations on what guns we can and cannot own. An ‘assault rifle’ is defined as a fully automatic firearm, and as of the Firearm Owner’s Protection Act of May 19, 1986, is illegal. It does not matter whether it is a ‘military-issue weapon’; when our forefathers created this Amendment they were mindful of prevention of tyranny. That means we should have the right to own AK47’s, AR15’s, etc., as the modern equivalent of muskets, lest our American rights be infringed upon.
