rebuild the West Side Highway to give New York City the same high quality open road that it used to have, creating jobs.

Created by B.G. on October 23, 2011

In the middle of the 20th century, much of the the West Side Highway came down, and was never replaced. Today, the west side of New York has traffic problems caused by this missing road. At the same time, President Obama talks about the need to create more jobs, and to rebuild the West Side Highway would create many of theses badly needed jobs.

It's incomprehensible that the New York City government could have allowed NIMBY mentality to stop the rebuilding of this highway. It's not a new road. It's an existing road that is needed. It would be like not rebuilding the World Trade Center, or God forbid the George Washington Bridge, should anything happen to it.

We the people urge the President to fund the rebuilding of the West Side Highway and to prevent environmentalist interference.
