Recently, the Obama administration appointed Tom Wheeler the chairman of the FCC. In the very short term that he's been in power, Chairman Wheeler has encouraged the ability to charge internet content providers for a "fast lane", contradicting his own agency's rule of net neutrality, and plans to encourage companies to shut down landline networks.
This is important because striking down net neutrality as it stands now would threaten the innovative nature of the internet. Likewise, the level of sound quality and reliability in landline networks are not only irreplaceable, but also unheard of in any other realtime network.
It should go unsaid for that the job of the FCC is to strengthen our national infrastructure, and help make it more accessible to the citizens who enjoy and depend on it
