Recall the Wounded Knee Massacre Medals of Honor

Created by S.F. on April 29, 2013

December 29, 1890, a detachment of the 7th Calvary was directed to disarm a small band of Lakota who were pursuing the Ghost Dance. While being disarmed, a scuffle broke out ending in the 7th Calvary either deliberately or inadvertently killing around 300 of the 350 Lakota. The majority of the group being women and children. Twenty members of the 7th Calvary were awarded the Medal of Honor for this occurrence which defies every moral grounds for its award. This petition it to bring about the recall of the ill-gained award to such, and bring to light a dark moment in American history too often overlooked.
