Reclaiming “East Sea”- a just act of rectifying historical flaws and divulging the real truth to all

Created by R.K. on April 19, 2012

The case for marking ‘East Sea’ in lieu of ‘Sea of Japan’ rests on the following:
1. Numerous antiquarian maps dating back as early as the 15th century (i.e. Vinland map) indicate the body of water between Korea and Japan as “East Sea” and even Hwanhae-Hangro-Sindo(c 1862) by Japanese Hirose mark “Sea of Chosun(Old Korea)”.
2. During their colonization of Asia, Japanese prohibited any sort of expression that detracted from their imperialist discourse. And following decades of occupation, “Sea of Japan” began to be widely accepted throughout the world. Hence, we must now dismiss “Sea of Japan” as a remnant of the egregious Japanese imperial ideology and embrace “East Sea”.
Please support us in reclaiming “East Sea” and spreading the “real truth” for history’s sake and our posterity.
