Reclassify Congress as hourly employees, pay them an hourly wage, and eliminate all free, taxpayer-subsidized benefits to optimize Representatives' ability to actually understand the daily issues of the majority and, in doing so, optimize their ability to fulfill their obligation to represent their constituents; the American people.
This will additionally serve to trim a substantial amount of excessive and unnecessary spending from the budget at the literal expense of those who made it necessary to do so.
After all, it is only fair and just that those who created the debt should now accept the lions' share of cuts that their decisions necessitated.
