To force Congress to reclassify and deregulate the growth and use of marijuana for personal medical use as prescribed by doctors.
The federal Controlled Substances Act of 1970 puts marijuana in the category of Schedule I drugs, along with heroin and LSD.
Marijuana does not have any of the same qualities that these drugs do. It is more in line with alcohol consumption and if regulation is needed, it should be no more regulated than alcohol.
The federal Controlled Substances Act of 1970 needs to be repealed and revamped to reflect the changes in medical information and society at large.
The government is made to reflect the wishes of the people, not the other way around. Make the federal government come in line with the wishes of the states and the people in them.
