Reclassify marijuana from Schedule 1 to a lesser level allowing greater access for researchers to more widely study it.

Current federal classification of marijuana in Schedule 1 restricts its availability to researchers who want to study its benefits and risks. As a result, we have little reliable research to inform policy making. The scientific knowledge of the effects of marijuana will quickly expand if it is reclassified to a lesser Schedule under the Uniform Controlled Substance Act. This is a reasonable step to better inform policy makers without completely lifting restrictions on its use.
