Reclassify Military Working Dogs as K-9 Members of the Armed Forces and not Equipment.

Created by R.T. on January 14, 2013

Military Working Dogs are classified as Equipment and should be reclassified as K-9 Members of the Armed Forces and granted medical benefits upon retirement. Military Working Dogs retire when thier time in the armed forces is over and in many cases, are adopted by former handlers and civilians. Most of these K-9's retire with medical issues and the expenses that come with them. These dogs serve this country with dignity and sacrifice just as much if not more than the servicemembers who work with them. How can they be classified as "equipment" when they live and breathe and are prone to suffer post traumatic stress disorder from being in combat just like humans. It is time to change the classification of these living, breathing k-9s.
