recognize and address that First Amendment rights to Peaceful Assembly and Protest are being violated by police activity

Created by D.J. on October 27, 2011

In viewing the nation-wide protests against the Banks on Wall Street that caused the collapse of our economy in 2008, it is apparent that civil rights have been and are being violated by police assaults all over the country.

When similar protests arose in other countries, such as Egypt, Iran, Syria, Libya, etc., President Obama and Hillary Clinton spoke out against the abuses by these governments towards their citizens.

This petition is an attempt to have our government speak out to law enforcement agencies all over this country to uphold the First Amendment and allow peaceful assembly and protest without fear of police retaliation.

"When peaceful protests are prevented, it is inevitable that violent protests will ensue"--JFK
