As the USDOJ considers whether or not to join, on the side of the publishers, the Georgia State University copyright case, known as Cambridge University Press et al. v. Patton et al., the Obama Administration should recognize and affirm that the Fair Use of copyrighted materials is crucial to the American educational system, that it is necessary to bring information to the students who will build our future, and that libraries in educational institutions continue to provide ethical and legal access to needed information. The Administration should cease support for CUP, OUP and Sage in their suit and should make active support of educational Fair Use the government's official policy.
