In 1915, the Ottoman Empire (now modern day Turkey) carried out a systemic campaign of extermination against the people of Armenia through death marches through the Syrian Desert and forced labor.

Many of our allies in the world have recognized this as an act of genocide (Canada, France, and Germany). 43 states have recognized that the Genocide has occurred.
