The Armenian Genocide (1915-1923) resulted in the deaths of between 800,000 and 1.5 million ethnic Armenians. The Genocide, perpetrated by the Young Turks, a nationalist political party in Turkey at the turn of the twenty-first century, is not recognized by Turkey or the United States. It is the United States' responsibility as one of the most powerful democracies in the world to stand with the Armenians in remembrance so that the Genocide not be forgotten--for those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it.
