We call on the government of the United States of America to recognize the genocide against the Assyrian Christian people, Sefyo. Since the 1890s, at the very least, the Assyrians have been persecuted for their Christian beliefs and the persecution continues to this day. They have become unwelcomed guests in their very own land and have faced an exodus from the Middle East. They were the indigenous people of the Iraq and much of the Middle East, but today live in diaspora for fear of remaining in the Middle East may cost them their lives. We ask that the American government recognize Sefyo, as mentioned above, and Assyrian Martyrs' Day, which falls annually on August 7.
